A Baidu livestream showed Lao Zhang’s new Yoo1—or Y1—a larger horizontal Android retro handheld that appears close to finished but still lacks pricing and a release date.
The teased device carries a 4.5-inch 3:2 1620x1080 display, a metal middle frame, dual analog sticks, stacked shoulder buttons, Hall-effect triggers, TMR joysticks and a 6000mAh battery.
Its size and Android setup suggest a push into higher-end emulation for systems such as PSP, PS2 and GameCube, putting it in contention with devices like the Retroid Pocket 6.
The reveal extends Lao Zhang’s niche hardware track record after the Pixel series and the 2022 LG Wing-based handheld, as he looks to challenge bigger retro handheld brands including ANBERNIC and AYANEO.
