David Njoku agreed to a one-year contract worth up to $8 million with the Chargers after meeting the team earlier this month following the 2026 NFL Draft.
Los Angeles targeted the former Browns tight end to give Justin Herbert another pass-catching option and more red-zone flexibility after getting little receiving production from blocking tight ends in recent seasons.
Njoku, 28, spent nine seasons in Cleveland, totaling 4,062 yards and 34 touchdowns; his best year came in 2023, when he made the Pro Bowl with 882 yards and six scores.
His role in L.A. will complement young receiving tight end Oronde Gadsden II and blocker Charlie Kolar, adding lineup versatility for an offense trying to push past its recent playoff ceiling.
After being replaced by a rookie in Cleveland, can Njoku revive his career and solve the Chargers' red zone problems?
Is David Njoku the veteran weapon needed to finally unleash Justin Herbert in Mike McDaniel’s new offensive scheme?
