T1 Mobile Drops Guarantee for $499 Trump Phone After Taking $59 Million in Deposits

$59 million in preorder deposits has been collected for Trump Mobile’s gold T1 phone, yet no devices have shipped a year after launch and months after the promised August 2025 release.
T1 Mobile LLC revised its terms last month to say it does not guarantee the device will be produced or offered for sale, making the $100 deposit only a conditional opportunity to buy later.
The updated terms also no longer lock in the $499 promotional price, adding to customer anger as some buyers say they ordered multiple phones and still have no delivery timeline.
Marketing claims have also shifted: the phone was first promoted as “Made in USA,” but is now described only as “proudly American” and designed with “American values in mind.”
The changes deepen scrutiny of Trump Mobile’s rollout after earlier delays and calls from senators for an FTC investigation into its marketing and preorder practices.
With $59 million collected and terms changed, are T1 Phone preorders a purchase or a high-risk investment?
Is the T1 Phone a genuine tech venture facing delays or a $59 million marketing ploy without a product?
