Jimmy Fallon announced on TODAY that Savannah Guthrie will host the new Wordle game show, which he is executive producing with The New York Times after 2½ years of development.
This summer is now the target for filming after production, originally set for March, was paused during the search for Guthrie’s mother; Guthrie returned to TODAY on April 6.
Casting is already open for contestants, with applications due by May 29 at 5 p.m. PT and an air date still to be announced.
Wordle launched in 2021 and was acquired by The New York Times in 2022; Guthrie, a longtime fan, even solved a giant version in Times Square in March 2025.
