Honolulu traveller Marcy Reginelli said she was charged $180 after being told her confirmed New York booking was only standby, before a fraud alert canceled the payment.
She said she had an email confirmation, ticket number and seat assignment, while Hawaiian Airlines said it had no record of the call or charge.
The airline said it has not seen other complaints and urged customers to use official contact details, as a former Honolulu police official warned scammers may exploit merger confusion with Alaska Airlines.
