Pete Hegseth ordered a legal review after the Arizona senator cited Pentagon briefings on Tomahawks, ATACMS and Patriot rounds during CBS's Face the Nation.
Kelly said the remarks echoed Hegseth's own public Senate testimony that some munitions would take years to replenish, and warned the Iran war was leaving Americans less safe.
The move follows an earlier failed effort to punish Kelly over urging troops to reject illegal orders, as reports say the US has used roughly half some key missile inventories.
