The 4.8-pound rough stone was found in mid-April in Mogok and presented to officials before President Min Aung Hlaing on Thursday.
State media said the purplish-red gem has yellowish undertones, moderate transparency and high-quality colour, making it the second largest by weight but potentially more valuable than larger finds.
