On CBS Sunday Morning, the 76-year-old actor said Katherine died in February at 42 and called the loss “a nightmare” for his family.
Short said his daughter had struggled with mental health issues, described suicide as a possible terminal stage of illness, and said he is now involved with anti-stigma group Bring Change 2 Mind.
He also linked the loss to earlier family bereavements, including wife Nancy Dolman’s 2010 cancer death, in discussing how grief built what he called “a muscle of survival.”
