Police said the 55-year-old was charged after a man trying to stop a fight between two employees at Silver Spoon on North Roxboro Street was shot and left in critical condition.
Officers responded at about 11:31 a.m., and witnesses said customers fled as gunfire erupted during an argument involving restaurant staff.
Employees told WRAL the dispute involved the owner and a cook, described as brothers-in-law, and that another person was taken to hospital with a stomach wound.
