The 19-year-old was charged with DWI and felony death by motor vehicle after the 11pm crash on South New Hope Road near Rogers Lane in Raleigh.
Police said a speeding silver Toyota RAV4 crossed the median, hit a small tree, then a larger tree and overturned in the road, killing two passengers.
Investigators said speed and alcohol likely contributed to the crash. Olmos was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive.
