The former Atlanta Braves star said on X that Cox was “a second father”, after playing under him from 1993 to 2010 and being drafted first overall by him in 1990.
Jones said Cox was the main reason he spent his entire MLB career with Atlanta, crediting him with shaping both his career and the Braves’ rise into a dominant franchise.
Tom Glavine, John Smoltz and Andruw Jones also praised Cox, whose teams won 14 straight division titles, five National League pennants and the 1995 World Series.
