The Arizona woman spent a week in a Phoenix hospital, had two surgeries and was diagnosed with compartment syndrome, cellulitis and sepsis after a wrist-to-elbow tattoo.
Roberts said she found the artist on Instagram, discovered the session was in a shipping container rather than a studio, and sought care after blistering, fever, vomiting and her hand turning purple.
She said she learned during treatment that she was pregnant, is seeking a refund of the $1,200 tattoo after paying a $200 deposit, and remains on antibiotics with follow-up appointments.
