At Newark's Prudential Center, Sean Strickland regained the UFC middleweight title with a split decision, 48-47 on two cards, while Sue Sanidad scored it for Chimaev.
Tsarukyan, who worked closely with Chimaev before the fight, posted on Instagram that "everyone watching knows what really happened" after the five-round main event.
The defeat was the first of Chimaev's career after he won the belt from Dricus du Plessis at UFC 319, and he has hinted at either a Strickland rematch or moving to light heavyweight.
