Hamburg Days begins production on Beatles early-years TV drama

The six-part BBC One series is filming in Germany, Liverpool, Merseyside and Munich, covering more than 250 Beatles gigs in Hamburg between 1960 and 1962.
Inspired by Klaus Voormann's memoirs, it depicts the band, then including Stuart Sutcliffe and Pete Best, meeting Voormann and photographer Astrid Kirchherr during their transformation.
Jamie Carragher wrote the drama, directed by Christian Schwochow and Laura Lackmann, as Liverpool also hosts Sam Mendes's separate four-film Beatles project for release in 2028.
