Police said the male victim was shot in the 4500 block of Wisconsin Avenue NW and taken to an area hospital.
Principal Sah Brown said the shooting happened near campus on Thursday evening, but not close enough to disrupt after-school programmes or change school operations.
DCPS Police placed the school on special attention, increasing law enforcement at arrival and dismissal, while counsellors, psychologists and social workers were made available to support students.
