Disney launches Infinity Vision for premium large-format screens

The certification scheme, unveiled at CinemaCon, aims to ready some of more than 75 US non-IMAX premium screens by autumn for Marvel's Avengers release on 18 December.
Disney moved the film from summer, but Warner Bros' Dune: Part Three had already secured that date's IMAX screens, forcing Disney to seek alternative premium venues.
The move underscores premium formats' growing importance as the US box office reaches about $2.9bn year-to-date, its strongest comparable start since 2019, while Disney still uses IMAX for other major releases.
