AAA said Friday regular gas averaged $4.17 in Cobb County versus $4.09 statewide in Georgia, while diesel topped $5 and many stations posted unleaded above $4.
Residents in Smyrna, Vinings and Marietta said fill-ups that once cost about $30 now run $40 to $45, while larger or premium-fuel vehicles can cost $75 to more than $100.
Georgia's gas-tax suspension, ordered by Governor Brian Kemp on 20 March, ends on 20 May and could add about 30 cents a gallon; the state's average was $2.90 a year earlier.
