Malaysia considers action against Meta over fake royal accounts

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said more than 15,000 accounts impersonating 26 royal family members were flagged between January and May.
He said authorities also sought the removal of more than 230,000 social media posts, with over 90% linked to online gambling and scams.
The move signals rising pressure on platforms in Malaysia over impersonation, fraud and harmful content involving the country’s Malay rulers.
