The fourth-generation system went online on Saturday with a single-core 180-qubit superconducting chip and 100-qubit-level computing capability under a single-chip architecture.
The company said all four core systems were independently developed and that the launch is China's first systematic integration of homegrown quantum computing power into the AI application ecosystem.
Its predecessor, the 72-qubit Origin Wukong launched in January 2024, handled 900,000 tasks, drew 50 million visits from more than 160 countries and achieved an overseas export sale in 2025.
China says its new quantum computer will power AI, but what can these powerful machines actually solve right now?
With China's 180-qubit computer now online, is the quantum race about having more qubits or better ones?
