Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said Kyiv must pull forces from Donbas before fighting can pause and serious settlement talks resume.
The stance came as Russia launched more than 100 drones and three missiles across Ukraine on 6 May, hitting Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk.
A Kharkiv strike injured two people and an attack in Sumy killed a woman, while Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said the assaults showed Moscow was rejecting genuine peace efforts.
