Truck transportation employment posts biggest gain in months

April payrolls rose 4,300 to 1,496,600, the largest monthly increase since September 2023, after upward revisions to February and March.
Even so, trucking jobs were still 2,100 below a year earlier, while warehouse employment edged up 500 to 1,830,700 but remained well under April 2025 levels.
Analysts linked the rise to stronger trucking conditions and hiring plans set after late-2025 recession fears eased, though they warned higher oil prices could still hit the labour market with a lag.
