The 60-year-old was arrested in Mexico after DNA and forensic genealogy linked him to the sexual assault and murder of 16-year-old Deanna Ogg in Porter, near Houston.
Authorities said Taylor, identified in 2024, turned himself in in Mexico City on 24 April on an unrelated felony charge after investigators learned he was a fugitive.
Ogg was found dead in September 1986; a man was wrongly convicted before later DNA testing exonerated him. Texas Rangers reopened the case through a sexual assault kit initiative in 2020.
