One Nation wins first federal lower house seat in Farrer by-election

Candidate David Farley took 59.1% in the rural New South Wales electorate, ahead of independent Michelle Milthorpe on about 40% and Liberal Raissa Butkowski on 11%.
The seat was vacated when former Liberal leader Sussan Ley resigned in February, ending more than 50 years of conservative control in Farrer.
Labor did not contest the seat and keeps its lower-house majority with 94 of 150 seats, while the result deepens pressure on the Liberals as One Nation rises in national polls.
