The 75-pound humanoid robot held up Flight 1568 from Oakland to San Diego by about an hour on 30 April before Southwest let it board in its own purchased seat.
Southwest said the device's lithium battery was above the maximum allowed size, so staff required its removal because of fire-risk rules governing air travel.
Elite Event Robotics said Bebop had flown earlier from Dallas to Oakland without issue, while the removed battery was later driven across California and overnighted to Chicago for another event.
