The move follows the FDA's updated 2022 Food Code, now fully in force in Colorado, Connecticut, Mississippi, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Utah.
The code generally bars food handlers from wearing watches, fitness trackers and most hand or arm jewelry because they can contaminate food, hinder handwashing or fall into meals.
It also requires hair and beard restraints and reflects a broader shift to "Active Managerial Control", with Indiana, New York and Vermont moving toward adopting the standards.
