At UFC 328 in Newark, New Jersey, middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev was cleared at 185 pounds before his title defence against Sean Strickland.
Tim Elliott, Aljamain Sterling and Dustin Poirier said the New Jersey commission appeared to confirm the reading before the tip scale had fully settled.
The dispute prompted accusations of special treatment for Chimaev, whose training partner Arman Tsarukyan said he had needed to cut 46 pounds before weigh-in.
