A NATO official said plans include a fivefold rise in air and missile defence, thousands more armoured vehicles and tanks, and millions more artillery shells.
The targets, agreed by defence ministers in June 2025, are now in national plans and also prioritise long-range weapons, logistics, medical support, drones, cyber and command systems.
The push comes as Donald Trump presses Europe to shoulder more of the burden and analysts warn the alliance still relies heavily on US nuclear deterrence, intelligence and logistics against Russia.
