Baby hippo Bumpy is flown to Kenya sanctuary for hand-rearing

Kenya Wildlife Service rescued the days-old calf from a lake after finding it nudging its dead mother, then transferred it to Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's Kaluku sanctuary near Tsavo East.
Keepers said the mother had been dead for more than a day, and Bumpy first spent a night in Nairobi on milk before being flown by helicopter to the Athi River site.
Officials said the mother may have died from natural causes or injuries from another animal, and Bumpy will stay until old enough for release, joining another young rescued hippo kept separately.
