Shares closed at $36.96 on Friday, extending gains for a second day as trading volume rose to 4.1 million, above the 50-day average of 2.3 million.
The broader market also advanced, with the S&P 500 up 0.84% to 7,398.93 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average edging 0.02% higher to 49,609.16.
H&R Block beat peers including Intuit, Fidelity National Information Services and Paychex, but the stock remains 37.54% below its 52-week high of $59.17 reached on May 9.
