Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds said she accepted CEO Greg Samorajski's resignation, while IPERS dismissed chief benefits officer Steven Herbert at the pension system serving nearly 424,000 public workers and retirees.
Herbert's firing is the main new development after Samorajski, who had been on administrative leave since March, stepped down amid the monthslong investigation.
IPERS manages more than $45 billion, has named Elizabeth Hennessey acting CEO and plans a nationwide search for a permanent leader.
