The stock climbed to $83.93 after first-quarter profit rose to $8.5 million, or 55 cents a share, from $4.7 million, while net revenue increased 8.3% to $92.4 million.
Adjusted earnings of 91 cents a share beat analysts' 83-cent estimate, and revenue slightly topped forecasts as the engineering and energy consulting company cited strong demand, productivity gains and a richer commercial customer mix.
Willdan lifted full-year adjusted EPS guidance to $4.90-$5.05 and revenue to $410 million-$425 million, up from prior ranges of $4.50-$4.70 and $390 million-$405 million; its shares have nearly doubled over the past year.
