Speaking outside the White House before traveling to Sterling, Virginia, Trump said he expected a letter from Iran by Friday night on a month-long plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
He said, “We’ll see how that goes,” and added the US would soon learn whether Tehran was deliberately slowing the process.
The expected reply follows US statements a day earlier that Iran should answer on Friday, after renewed clashes threatened a month-long ceasefire between the two countries.
