The piece was made within weeks by east London duo Whitaker Malem, with British artist Allen Jones, Nadia Lee Cohen and a Kent car bodyshop.
Kardashian sought a conversation-starting look for the gala’s “fashion is art” theme, making several UK fittings before the breastplate was sprayed orange and flown to New York.
Whitaker Malem, founded in 1988, are known for sculptural leather and film costume work, including pieces for Troy, Wonder Woman, James Bond and Lara Croft.
