The Canadian energy holding company reported C$562 million, or C$1.85 a share, down from C$583 million, or C$1.96, a year earlier.
Foreign-exchange translation impacts and related hedges cut earnings by C$30 million, though adjusted earnings of C$1.37 a share beat FactSet analysts' C$1.20 estimate.
Higher earnings from Emera Energy Services, Peoples Gas Systems and Tampa Electric helped offset the drag, while CEO Scott Balfour said Emera could exceed its 5%-7% average adjusted EPS growth range this year.
