Investigators said the networks used “pig-butchering” tactics, building trust through romance or messaging before steering victims into fake crypto investments and draining millions of dollars.
Meta said it removed 159 million scam ads and 10.9 million linked accounts in 2025, while officials warned new networks will keep emerging despite the cross-border enforcement push.
