Centcom said the boats were used in Monday attacks on US guided-missile destroyers, and at least one frigate was hit by fire from a speedboat.
The helicopters struck during an operation to protect commercial shipping through the strategic waterway, where Iran’s small, fast craft can carry missiles, machine guns or naval mines.
