Shares closed at $55.31 on Thursday as the S&P 500 fell 0.38% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 0.63%.
The decline ended a two-day winning streak, but U.S. Bancorp still fared better than Bank of America and Wells Fargo, which fell 1.59% and 1.57% respectively.
The stock finished 9.61% below its 52-week high of $61.19 reached on 11 February, while trading volume of 10.9 million topped its 50-day average.
