The move came despite a weak broader market, with the S&P 500 down 0.38% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average falling 0.63%.
Becton Dickinson still ended 18.20% below its 52-week high of $187.35, while rival stocks posted smaller gains, including Danaher, Medtronic and DexCom.
