The 35-year-old delivered four boys and a girl by Caesarean on Tuesday at Hiwot Fana Specialised Hospital in Harari Regional State, with each baby weighing 1.3 to 1.4kg.
Hospital medical director Dr Mohammed Nur Abdulahi said the mother and babies were in full health and remained under medical care after the natural conception, without IVF.
Quintuplets conceived naturally are estimated to occur in about one in 55 million pregnancies; Adem said years of stigma over childlessness had left her depressed and she now worries about supporting the family.
