Jose Melesio, 65, of Chicago, was killed on 27 April after a silver four-door sedan hit him on Figueroa Street near 75th Street in South Los Angeles.
Detectives said they have no video or photo of the driver and urged auto repair shops to report any recently serviced sedan matching the suspect vehicle.
Melesio had been visiting family and planned to watch the Cubs play the Dodgers; police said 15 of South LA's 29 traffic deaths this year involved hit-and-runs.
