The change takes effect on 1 October, with outgoing CEO Robert Vitale becoming executive chairman and Catoggio also taking the president role.
Catoggio has served as chief operating officer since January and previously led Post Consumer Brands, while Vitale has run the company since 2014.
Post also reported second-quarter profit of $81.9 million, or $1.56 a share, up from $62.6 million, as adjusted earnings beat estimates but revenue slightly missed.
