The 4.8-pound rough stone was unearthed in mid-April in upper Mandalay and is considered Myanmar's second-largest ruby by weight.
State media said it is more valuable than a 21,450-carat ruby found in 1996 because of its purplish-red colour, quality grade, transparency and reflective surface.
The find highlights gems' role in funding Myanmar's military and armed groups in volatile Mogok, where mine control shifted after TNLA capture and a China-mediated ceasefire.
