The feature lets users who lose all authentication methods regain access using government-issued ID and biometric face checks, with 1Kosmos and CLEAR1 added to Microsoft’s verification partners.
Microsoft said the release is part of a broader push to expand passkeys across Entra, Windows, External ID and Password Manager, while prioritising phishing-resistant sign-ins over passwords.
The company said hundreds of millions already use passkeys daily across its consumer services, and it plans to remove security questions from Entra ID password resets in January 2027.
