  • Grinding Gear Games said version 0.5.0, Return of the Ancients, arrives on 29 May, adding 50-plus endgame hours, 15 bosses, two Ascendancy classes and more than 300 Atlas nodes.
  • The update introduces five endgame storylines, the Runes of Aldur league, a fully unlockable Atlas tree, new build-guide and trading tools, and direct questline access to endgame bosses.
  • It is billed as the last major early-access content drop before Path of Exile 2's full 1.0 release later this year, following criticism that the existing endgame felt like an infinite grind.
Will the new runesmithing and Atlas overhaul truly fix the endgame, or just introduce a more complicated grind?
Can a game famed for its endless content satisfy players by telling them when it's time to stop playing?
