Ahead of his 21 May sign-off, Colbert told THR at New York's Ed Sullivan Theater he heard immediately from Jimmy Kimmel, Jon Stewart, Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers and John Oliver after his firing.
He said leaving the staff he loves will be hardest, while joking about returning to live audiences, exercising and possible stand-up after more than a decade in late night.
Colbert also recalled Keanu Reeves' answer to a question about death, saying it inspired the Colbert Questionert, and highlighted recent musical performances by Hozier, Lake Street Dive and Joe Walsh.
