Trainor, 30, was struck by a wrong-way driver on Route 1 in Lynnfield and later died at Massachusetts General Hospital; the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Governor Maura Healey said state and national flags at all Massachusetts state buildings would remain lowered until sunset on May 6 to honor the state trooper's service.
Police had not identified the driver. Half-staff observances are typically ordered during periods of mourning, including after national tragedies or deaths of government or military personnel.
