Newmont stock slides 1.40% despite outperforming some rivals

Shares closed at $113.49 on Thursday as the S&P 500 fell 0.38% to 7,337.11 and the Dow dropped 0.63% to 49,596.97.
The decline ended a two-day winning streak, though Newmont still beat Royal Gold, whose shares fell 1.77% to $232.68.
Newmont finished 15.86% below its 52-week high of $134.88 reached on 29 January, while trading volume of 7.9 million stayed below its 50-day average of 9.8 million.
