The Energy and Public Utilities Committee advanced House Bill 5524 after state Senator Terri Bryant said she would seek an amendment and hold it on second reading.
The measure would require the Illinois Commerce Commission to run a website showing electric charges and how much is sent to the state or kept by utilities.
