The 6ft 7in outfield prospect is due in Milwaukee on Friday after Dominguez crashed into the left-field wall during Thursday's 9-2 win over Texas.
Jones has hit .258/.366/.592 with 11 home runs and 41 RBIs in 33 games for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season.
Earlier reports said the Yankees were weighing the move; Dominguez was later diagnosed with a low-grade AC sprain in his left shoulder and is expected to miss several weeks.
