In Kuala Lumpur, it traded at 3.9050/9300 at 8am versus 3.9230/9275 at Wednesday’s close, before Bank Negara Malaysia’s third Monetary Policy Committee meeting.
Markets expect the OPR to stay at 2.75%, while improved risk appetite on reported US-Iran deal hopes and a weaker dollar also lifted the currency.
The ringgit also strengthened against the euro, pound, yen, Singapore dollar and Thai baht, and was little changed against the Indonesian rupiah and Philippine peso.
